Hello, my very competitive students!
Yesterday we spent a lot of time practicing questions in the 3rd person singular of the Simple Present: asking questions:
What does Stanley cook on Thursday?
Does Stanley cook Italian food on Monday?
What does Irene do?
Some of you have already got the trick of it and ask question very well.
On Thursday he cooks Puerto Rican food.
Yes, he does. On Monday he cooks Italian food.
Irene watches TV.
We started to study the names of TV programs.
Cartoons, news, talk shows, game shows, reality shows, sitcoms, series.
We spent some time pronouncing those words.
Then we continued playing our frequency adverbs game. And it's incredible, but we haven't finished yet. I hope next day...
HOMEWORK
1.Ask the questions for these answers: Example: Yes, my brother walks to school every day. Question: Does your brother walk to school everyday?
No, Stanley doesn't cook Russian food.
He cooks Greek food on Tuesday.
After school I watch TV.
After lunch, my mother sleeps on the sofa.
No, my father doesn't play the piano.
2. Answer the questions:
What cartoons do you watch?
What series do you watch?
What game shows do you watch?
Welcome to our new course. Students in this group are: Sergio Justo, Gonzalo Collado, Rubén Molina, Olivia Ortal, Nuria Martín, Irene Ariza and Luis Salido.

Hi C5 kids!
It was a nice class yesterday. There is a bunch of smart students in this group. I can't imagine how much you would learn if you didn't so much to say to each other in Spanish.
In our lesson students had to work with a partner and ask him/her:
What do you do?
What don't you do?
And they had to give to answers for each question. Example:
I play the guitar and I read books.
I don't comb my hair and I don't eat fish.
Later, students had to report what their partner had told them. Example:
He/She plays the guitar and reads books.
He/She doesn't comb his/her hair and doesn't eat fish.
We also practiced the prepositions before and after. Before spring: winter. After spring: summer.
We reviewed all the actions we are studying and played Around the World. Then we continued with a board game in which we have to make sentences using the Simple Present and a frequency adverb: always, usually, often, sometimes, seldom and never.

Here is a fun video for you to watch: then, answer the questions.
1. What kind of food does Stanley cook on Tuesday?
2. What kind of food does Stanley cook on Friday?
3. What question does the first caller ( a man who phones the restaurant) ask?
4. When does Stanley cook Japanese food?
5. Why doesn't the Russian man go to Stanley's restaurant?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
It was nice to see you all yesterday. And I'm glad you all got good presents from the Three Wise Men and from Santa.
We started a new unit. It is about what we do in our Free Time. First we listened to a recording of a girl saying what she usually does after school.
First, she listens to music, then she does her homework. After that, she has dinner with her family, and so on.
In these sentences, because they express actions that happen everyday, we use the Simple Present.
This form of the verb is very easy in English.
Example: verb to read:
I read
You read
He/She/It reads
We read
You read
They read
As you can see, only the 3rd person singular is a bit different: it has an s.
To make questions we use an auxiliary: the Simple Present of to do.
You do
He/She/It does
We do
You do
They do
It's like this:
Do I read?
Do you read?
Does he/she/it read?
Do we read?
Do you read?
Do they read?
And finally when we make a negative sentence:
I don't read
You don't read
He/She/It doesn't read
We don't read
You don't read
They don't read
We studied a number of actions which were not completely new for the students:
Wake up, get dressed, have breakfast or lunch or dinner, wash you face or your hands or your hair, brush your teeth, comb your hair, brush your hair, walk, run, do your homework, do exercise, play an instrument, play sports, play games, sing, cook, buy, sleep, go out, ride your bike.
In the last part of our class we played a board game. Students had to make sentences in the Simple Present using one of the following adverbs: Always, usually, often, sometimes, seldom, never.
Homework:
Answer the questions:
1. What do you after breakfast?
2. What do you do after the English class in Learn&Enjoy?
3. What does your mother do after breakfast? (Ask her, your mother)
4. What does your father do after breakfast? (Ask him, your father)
Play this game and write down 5 questions you hear and the answers.http://www.mes-games.com/dailyroutines.php

Hello!
I am glad to see that you are making progress with the interviews. You need to practice them at home so you are very sure of your questions and answers and don't get nervous when I record you with the camera. All actors and actresses get nervous, all they can do is practice and practice so when the time comes they don't forget their lines.
I copy 2 of the interviews we practiced yesterday:
In the first one Sergio plays the interviewer in yellow and Gonzalo answers the questions:
In this interview Olivia plays the interviewer in yellow and Nuria and Irene are the twin sisters.
Besides practicing the interviews we did some more work on school subjects. We practiced pronunciation: biology, geography, history, computer science, chemistry.
We studied some adjectives to talk about the classes and subjects: interesting, boring, amazing.
Then we listened to 6 students talk about the subjects they were taking and had to match each conversation with a sentence saying something about it.It was a difficult listening but most students did quite well.
HOMEWORK
Next day we'll spend the whole lesson rehearsing and recording interviews so your homework this time is studying and practicing your lines.

Hello again!
Yesterday we continued studying about school subjects. We mentioned a new subject: IT (only Sergio has IT in school).
We said what we study in each subject. Students wrote it sown in their notebooks, so I don't need to write it here.
Remember to study it: in English we study nouns and verbs. In Maths, we study multiplication and division. Etc.
In the second part of the lesson we rehearsed the interviews. Here is one of the interviews. Gonzalo interviews Luis and Sergio. Luis is the father and Sergio is his son. The 3 of you can study it and practice your part.

Do Exercise 2: LOOK AT THE CHART AND COMPLETE THE SENTENCES
miércoles, 19 de noviembre de 2014
We are wondering what' s happening to Luis, it's the second class he misses. It's his turn to take PJ home too.
Yesterday we started a new unit. It is about school subjects. In this unit we study the names of the school subjects:
Art, PE, Maths, Science, Spanish, English, Science, Social Science, Geography, History, Music.
There are a few more but we haven't learned them yet.
Students also study how to talk about their school timetable. Ex:
What do you study on Monday?
First I have English, then I have Art, then Music. After the break, I have PE, next Maths and
finally I have Science.
The words I underlined are sequence adverbs. We use them to say the order of our classes.
We are also studying how to tell the time. Yesterday, the teacher explained how to do it and then, students got a worksheet with pictures of clocks showing different times and they had to write the time on each clock. Some students are still a bit confused. Here is a picture that can help you understand:
We started rehearsing the interviews. Gonzalo was the interviewer and he interviewed Ruben, who was a grandfather. Then he interviewed a group of university students: Olivia, Nuria, Sergio and Irene. He did not have time to interview Olivia and Irene, who are a married couple.
