Hello everybody!
Some of you have to show more interest when you do your homework. If you don´t understand the instructions please ask somebody for help - a brother, a sister, a mother or a father who know a little English - or use the translator.
Yesterday we started a new unit. Students looked at a picture of some boys and girls and they had to guess who were best friends and who hadn´t got a best friend.
This is an important word:
Guess
Guess what it means guess.
Anyway, after that we listened to a recording to find out if we were right or wrong. First we found out who was who. We had to listen to a description. Example:
My name is Jessica. I have got short black hair and a round face. My favorite color is green.
Then we could find Jessica´s picture.
That´s what we study in this unit: how to describe people and talk about what they like.

Hello!
It seems rather difficult for some of you to use the Present Continuous without forgetting something: either the verb to be or the -ing ending of the verb. So we need to keep practicing.
Yesterday we did an exercise in the book. It took quite a while, because we had to repeat and repeat the questions and the answers. It must be the spring.
The questions were like this one:
What's Mary doing in the living room?
And the the answers:
She is playing a game.
Later we reviewed the set of actions and learned a few new ones. The new actions are household chores:
Do the dishes, make a bed, do the laundry, hang the clothes, take the rubbish out, mop the floor, do the dusting, vacuum.
I underlined the verb itself, the part that you must use for the Present Continuous. Example: My father is doing the dishes. My mother is mopping the floor. I am making my bed.
Other verbs that we studied are:
Shout, carry, bounce (the ball), argue.
We played Around the World. Children in this group tend to shout when they are playing this game. They think that if they shout they will win. But it doesn't work that way. You have to be faster and pronounce the words correctly. Shouting doesn't help.
HOMEWORK
What's the woman doing?
What's the girl doing?
Now, draw all the members of your family doing different house chores. You must include yourself. Say what everybody is doing.
Then answer the questions:
1. Is your father taking the rubbish out?
2. Is your mother making a bed?
3. Is your brother/sister cooking?
4. Are you doing the dusting?
Example: Is your sister cooking? No, she isn't. She is doing the dishes.

Hello again!
Yesterday we continued practicing the Present Continuous. Some students said that they had already studied the sheet I gave them in their Trinity class. But that was no problem, because it takes a lot of practice to master the Present Continuous. And we did it a little differently anyway. When we did the listening, for instance we practiced the question:
Who is Mike talking to?
Students had to listen carefully and answer:
Mike is talking to Bob.
We also practiced the questions:
What's he/she doing?
and
Is she going to work?
For this last questions students could answer:
Yes, she is.
or
No, she isn't. She is cooking dinner.
Later, students had to compare a picture they were given with their partner's picture, which was similar but different. For that, they had to ask each other questions.
We ended the lesson playing a board game. students need to make a sentence either in the Present Simple or the Present Continuous. For instance, if they land on a box with the words play baseball this week, they have to make a sentence in the Present Concinuous: I am playing baseball this week, because of the words this week. But if the words on the box are get up early every day, then the sentence must be in the Present Simple, because that's the tense we use to talk about things we do everyday: my father gets up early everyday.

I am glad you all enjoyed your vacation. Everybody in this group traveled somewhere. To the beach, to their village... You lucky ones!
We started the new term studying another verb tense: the Present Continuous. It was not really new for anybody but you need to practice it and compare it to the Present Simple, which we had studied last term.
We use the Present Continuous to talk about actions we are doing now, today, tonight, this week, this month, this year, etc.
Don't forget!
An example:
I am eating
Question
Am I eating?
Negative .
I am not eating
Why am I writing am with big letters? Because many children forget to put that part of the verb. But we talked about it in class. And we practiced asking questions and giving answers.
We also learned some new verbs. Remember the song?
We had some pairs:
walk and run
eat and drink
cry and smile
hit and kick
climb and swing
throw and catch
Homework
1. Please, study the verbs above for next class.
2.
Write 7 sentences saying what the people in the picture are doing.
Example: Adela is playing the guitar.
Verbs you can use: talk, throw, skateboard, play, ride, buy, swim, walk, drive, watch
